Minimal Facts

The vast majority of scholars agree on these historical facts (though many of them do not believe in the Resurrection).

1. Jesus died by Roman crucifixion.

2. Jesus' tomb was found empty three days after his crucifixion.


3. Jesus' disciples were sincerely convinced that he rose from the dead and appeared to them.

4. Paul (aka Saul of Tarsus), a persecutor of Christians, suddenly changed to become a representative of the risen Jesus.


5. James (brother of Jesus), a skeptic of his brother's life, suddenly changed to become a representative of the risen Jesus.


6. The growth of the early church was remarkable, particularly in the context of often severe persecution.
