Bearing Fruit

Matthew 7:17 (NIV) Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (see also Matthew 3:10, 12:33, Luke 3:9, 6:43,  this and that )
What kind of person are you?  Two different kinds of trees; two different kinds of people. Two different kinds of fruit; two different kinds of behavior.

A tree’s fruit reveals the true nature of the tree – what kind of tree it is. Similarly, a person’s behavior reveals the true nature of that person. In order to bear good fruit, we need a fundamental change of nature, and thank God: that is exactly what He is offering to those willing to be grafted into Jesus: “If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation(2 Cor 5:17)
John 15:1 (NIV) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.... 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies , it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. (John 12:24)
